On the road to Bukhara [9.-11.Oktober]

As we’ve read good things about Shahrisabz, we detoured 80 kilometers south from Samarkand to see what this town has to offer. Unfortunately, they flattened most of the old town to make room for a city park, with the ancient sights spread out within the park here and there. Walking along the new buildings in the park felt a bit like visiting a European outlet-center as the architecture was so strikingly similar. We were wondering how the city was able to keep the UNESCO world heritage status after being bulldozed.

On we drove to Bukhara and again Margit couldn’t stop taking pictures.
