Nur-Sultan (Astana) the capital of Kazakhstan [26 -30 July]

Crossing into Kazakhstan was fairly easy and we headed straight to
Nur-Sultan, until March 2019 known as Astana and relatively new capital of the country. It’s divided into two parts. The old (Russian) centre, and the new centre, designed on the drawing-board after it became the capital. The new centre is an architecture’s delight with a multitude of modern and staggering buildings designed by world-famous architects. It was a pity to discover the poor workmanship on many of the buildings, for example loose marble tiles. Margit, an architect herself, just said that her snagging list would be endless.
