Siberia [20 May-2 June 2019]

In Volgograd, we said goodbye to Mariska and Paul and continued our route to Siberia alone. We hadn’t expected much from the long drive east. After all, we were fascinated by the wide open spaces, the gentle hills of the Ural, the never-ending birch forests, the thousands of small lakes along the highway, and the changing colours of the landscape from dawn to dusk. What we didn’t like were those millions and millions of mosquitoes that stormed our van as soon as we stopped for the night.
